Legal Status of official English in Florida
Florida allows voter initiatives to change
the state's constitution. In 1988, this state passed this amendment to
their state constitution making English the state's official language
(See below).

Florida Official English Amendment
FLORIDA CONSTITUTION,
ARTICLE II, SECTION 9 (1988)
(a) English is the official language of the state of Florida.
(b) The legislature shall have the power to enforce this section by appropriate
legislation.
