Santorum improves his ProEnglish grade from B to A-minus

The Santorum for President campaign notified us this week that the senator agrees that Congress should repeal bilingual voter ballots.   We’re happy to see Sen. Santorum taking a strong stand on English, and his declaration on bilingual ballots has raised his ProEnglish grade from a B to an A-.

Since 1907, the United States has required immigrants to learn English in order to naturalize and acquire the rights of citizenship, including the right to vote in federal elections. But, Section 203 of the Voting Rights Act of 1975 forces state and local governments to print foreign-language ballots for citizens who are already required to read and understand English. This federal mandate is redundant, wasteful and encourages voting by non-citizens - a violation of federal law.  Senator Santorum agrees, along with Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich, that Congress should repeal it. Unfortunately, Mitt Romney and President Obama continue to lag behind in the rankings.
