English as official US language: Perry says, 'I can agree with that'

Gov. Rick Perry on Friday appeared to endorse making English the official language of  the United States, agreeing with a questioner who put forward a strongly  worded defense of the idea.
"Personally, I'm fed up  with seeing the directions on every single product on every single shelf  of every single store written in foreign languages.And I'd like to say  English should be the official language of government in this country."
"That is a statement. That's not a question. And I can agree with that," Perry responded without elaborating further.
