Cuomo was careful to clarify that non-English speaking immigrants will not be asked about their immigration status, so having access to interpreters will act as a magnet for illegal immigrants to access taxpayer-funded benefits and services.

TAKE ACTION!

This is an outrage. Oblivious to a $2 billion New York State budget deficit, this order bypasses the state assembly to order the expenditure of tens of millions of dollars in new spending to provide translation and interpreter services. Similar measures were rejected by previous governors because they were too expensive. (The Gov.’s suggestion that it will cost only $1.5 million to provide such services to an estimated 2.5 million non-English speaking immigrants in New York is a gross understatement).

Not only is the order fiscally irresponsible as well as an outright abuse of executive power, it destroys the incentives immigrants have to learn English, become self-sufficient, and assimilate. It seeks to keep them isolated, segregated, and forever dependent on government for their welfare.

TAKE ACTION!

• Tell him that his Executive Order is a disgrace to New York and to the American “Melting Pot!”

• Tell the Gov. that he is harming the interests of citizens and immigrants alike.

• He needs to be honest and tell immigrants that learning English is the only way to achieve long term success in America!
