More Info

Recently, a group of Spanish-speaking customers came into the Reedy Creek Family Diner, located in Lexington, North Carolina, and ended up causing quite a stir when they realized that the wait staff was not bilingual and spoke only English.

“Unfortunately, I don’t have anybody [working] here who's bilingual,” said Greg Simons, owner of the diner.
After the non-English-speaking customers walked out, Simons posted a sign on the front door that read, “No Speak English, No Service,” but the situation came to a head this week when the owner decided to take down the sign after he was deluged with angry email messages and phone calls—even a brick was thrown through the restaurant window!

Private business owners have every right to decide what language to require employees and customers to use.  All-too-often, the “PC” (politically correct) police try to censor employers like Mr. Simons and threaten legal and regulatory action and even unwarranted negative PR over perfectly legal—and in ProEnglish’s view, enlightened—English language workplace policies.

Let the Reedy Creek Family Diner know that you support their stance!
