Thanks to your generous donations, ProEnglish was successful in helping Lino Lakes become the first city in the state of Minnesota to adopt English as its official language last month!

In a recent thank you letter, Lino Lakes City Councilman Dave Roeser praised the work of ProEnglish:

“I am very grateful that we had your organization to help with drafting language and to offer support as the media high-jacked this issue into an immigration and racial agenda.”

“Your guidance helped solidify the council into doing the right thing by not caving to special interest groups.”

“Your organization was there when we needed it most, thank you.”

ProEnglish plans to continue this work.  By donating just $10 today, you can help make a significant difference in our effort to pass official English in states, cities and towns all across America!

This November, Oklahoma is poised to become the 31st state to adopt official English.  The Oklahoma state legislature passed legislation this year that put State Question 751 on the November 2nd ballot.  The initative, if it passes, will amend the Oklahoma state constitution to make English the official language of government.  ProEnglish needs your support today so we can continue to place op-eds and send action alerts in support of the official English ballot initiative!

Oklahoma State Representative Randy Terrill (R-district 53) introduced the legislation needed to get State Question 751 on the ballot this year.  While discussing his bill's success and the prospect of Oklahoma becoming the 31st official English state, Rep. Terrill said:

"I can't tell you how important it was to have ProEnglish and its legal team available whenever I needed help throughout our legislative session.  [ProEnglish's] legal expertise was critical in drafting a meaningful bill that can stand up to court challenges.  And, your radio ads, mailings to ProEnglish members, and phone bank calls to the constituents of wavering legislators, all played a major role in our victory."

ProEnglish has also been working hard to oppose stealth amnesty.  On August 23rd, I spoke at a well-attended media event at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. to urge the White House to openly reject plans laid out in a recent USCIS (United States Citizen and Immigration Service) memo to achieve amnesty for illegal aliens without a vote in Congress.

ProEnglish strongly opposes blanket amnesty because it would give legal status to millions of illegal aliens without specific steps requiring them to learn English.  Giving legal status to millions of non-English speaking illegal aliens would dramatically expand demands for government services in foreign languages and further erode English’s critical role as our unifying national language.

Puerto Rico’s Governor Luis Fortuno has also recently been advocating that congressional immigration legislation should include the Puerto Rican statehood bill, but we cannot let that happen!

ProEnglish receives no government support.  It relies solely on the generosity of patriotic Americans like you for its funding. If possible, I ask that you pledge a small donation today so ProEnglish can wage a legal and public relations campaign in defense of our common language.

DONATE NOW!

With your help, ProEnglish will have the resources it needs to fight any attempts by a lame-duck Congress to pass the Puerto Rico Democracy Act (H.R. 2499), which rigs the referenda process to favor Spanish-speaking Puerto Rico to be admitted as the 51st state without any prerequisites for them to adopt English as its official language, or Rep. Mike Honda’s (D-CA) One America, Many Voices Act which would mandate taxpayer-funded salary increases for multilingual federal government employees.

We rarely ask, but please consider pledging a $10 or $25 gift to ProEnglish today.

So much more needs to be done to make English our official language and to defeat the forces that seek to undermine our national unity.

A gift of just $10 will help us significantly in preparing for the battles in the coming lame-duck session of Congress.   Of course, larger gifts are welcome, and every gift to ProEnglish is tax-deductible!

Thank you for your support!

Sincerely,

Jayne Cannava

Executive Director
