Tell your Senators to oppose CLOTURE on the DREAM Act!

Tell your two Senators to VOTE NO on CLOTURE unless Sen. Reid agrees to drop his plans to add the DREAM Act! September 17, 2010

The Senate is scheduled to vote on the motion to proceed to consideration of the National Defense Authorization bill (S. 3454) next Tuesday, September 21^st, at approximately 2:15pm, so there is still ample time to keep the phone calls flowing into your Senators offices!

As we alerted you on Wednesday, Sen. Reid has announced he will offer the DREAM Act (S. 729) as an amendment to the Defense Authorization. But, Reid needs 60 votes to proceed to consideration of the bill. The most effective way to pressure Reid to abandon adding the DREAM Act is to support Senator John McCain’s objection to Reid’s motion to proceed. It will take 41 votes to maintain the McCain objection.

The DREAM Act will grant amnesty to millions of non-English-speaking and limited-English-proficient illegal aliens without requiring specific steps to learn English. This will dramatically increase demands for taxpayer-funded multilingual government services, such as multilingual voting ballots, driver's license tests in multiple languages, translations for official documents and school textbooks, and government-mandated interpreters.

TAKE ACTION!

Call your Senators NOW and tell them to SUPPORT Sen. McCain’s objection to proceed to debate of the bill by voting NO on cloture unless Sen. Reid abandons his plans to pursue the DREAM Act.

Defeating the cloture vote is the only way to prevent Harry Reid from offering the DREAM Act!

Make no mistake, the cloture vote is not simply "procedural." A vote for cloture is a vote for Harry Reid's DREAM Act amnesty!

As Congressional Quarterly reported yesterday: “We’re not going to be able to complete this bill before we go home,” Reid said in response to a question from Armed Services ranking Republican John McCain of Arizona.

Senator Reid’s statement yesterday verifies that he is using the DREAM Act as a campaign ploy to appeal to his pro-amnesty base without actually having to deliver a successful result. Reid is high-jacking this national defense bill and choosing to delay its passage in order to accommodate his partisan political agenda.
