Please call Gov. Jan Brewer to thank her for signing S.B. 1183, a new state law that says Arizona businesses do not have to provide "trained and competent" interpreters for non-English speaking customers!

John Schrolucke, a Glendale optometrist, had to spend time and money to defend himself against a discrimination lawsuit after a Spanish-speaking patient demanded he furnish her with an interpreter. His "crime" was to refer her to local Spanish speaking optometrists, or else return with a translator at least 18 years of age. Dr. Schrolucke eventually prevailed when Arizona's Attorney General ruled he had not violated the woman's civil rights.

To protect employers from this kind of harassment, State Sen. John Huppenthal (R-Chandler) succeeded in passing S.B. 1183 through the Arizona legislature, and Gov. Brewer signed it into law.
Please call Governor Brewer and thank her for signing this common sense bill!
