Election Day is tomorrow, so when you go to cast your votes at the polls, be sure to check YES on State Question 751!

If passed, State Question 751 would amend the OK state constitution to make English the official language.   This means that all official state business and documents (government hearings, printed communications, state government websites, etc.) would be printed in no languages other than English.

Three reasons to vote YES on State Question 751 to make English the official language:

  • To prevent Oklahoma from being forced to provide taxpayer-funded services in an unlimited number of foreign languages against its will because Congress has, to date, refused to make English the official language of government business.

  • To avoid the costs, conflicts, and burdens inherently associated with bilingualism or multilingualism.  Establishing English as the official language of OK is projected to save the state hundreds-of-thousands of taxpayer dollars a year.

  • To encourage immigrants’ assimilation into the American culture, to restore incentives for non-English speakers to learn English, and to prevent the sort of linguistic isolation that impedes educational and economic opportunity.
