I recently applied for employment at a major home-improvement chain.
Upon completing the online application, I received a call and had a phone interview.
It went well, I thought, until I was asked if I was bilingual and replied I was not. I was told that the store wanted someone who could assist foreign-speaking customers.
I was sure that the store was in the United States!
I was then told that my application would remain on file and I would be contacted if any other positions came up.
After two more phone interviews for positions at other stores with the same results, I realized that I needed more than my 25 years of construction experience and dealing with the public to get a job at this home-improvement chain.
I need to go and purchase Rosetta Stone!
