ProEnglish SUPPORTS the following official English and related bills introduced in the Senate in the 110th Congress:
S. 1335: S.I. Hayakawa Official English Language Act of 2007; Introduced by Sen. Inhofe (R-OK)
- Declares that English is the official language of the United States
- Repeals the bilingual ballot requirements of the Voting Rights Act
- Requires all naturalization ceremonies be conducted in English
- Revokes Executive Order 13166 that requires federal fund recipients to provide translations and interpreters for non-English speaking clients
S.2453: Protecting English in the Workplace Act; Introduced by Sen. Alexander (R-TN)
- Clarifies Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to say that it cannot be interpreted to prohibit employers from having English-on-the-job policies
S.2719: To provide that Executive Order 13166 shall have no force or effect, and to prohibit the use of funds for certain purposes; Introduced by Sen. Dole (R-NC)
